Help

This page is for workers using TipBop. If something is not right, start here. A real person answers hello@tipbop.com.

A tip has not arrived

When someone taps your badge and pays, the money is sent to your bank a few minutes later. It usually lands within 30 minutes. Nights and weekends included.

  • Open the app and check your home screen. A paid tip shows there straight away, before it reaches your bank.
  • If your bank cannot take a fast payment, add a debit card in the app and it can. Until then your tips come through on the daily payout instead.
  • Still nothing after a few hours? Email hello@tipbop.com. Tell us your first name and roughly when the tip was, and we will find it.

A tip shows as refunded or disputed

Tips are paid straight into your own account, so you are the merchant of record. If a customer disputes a tip with their bank, that money comes back out of your account. Disputes on tips are rare, and we will tell you straight away if one happens. The terms explain this in full.

You cannot sign in

You sign in with your email. Ask for a link, then open it from the email itself. Do not copy it out, because a copied link can be cut short and stop working.

Lost your phone? A sign-in can open your Stripe dashboard, where your bank details are. In the app, go to Settings and choose "Sign out everywhere". That ends every session without touching your tips, your badge or your money. If you cannot get in to do that, email us.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings, then "Your account", then "Delete my account". It is not a flag. It really deletes.

Gone straight away

  • Your first name, photo, job title, email and sign-in.
  • Every badge you have. They stop working at once. Anyone who taps one sees a plain "this tag isn't active" page.
  • Your notifications, and every session on every device.

What stays, and why

  • Your past tips stay as payment records, with your name removed. Real money moved through your own account, and the law requires records of payments to be kept.
  • The Stripe account id stays on those records, because a card dispute can arrive months later and that is the only way to answer one.

We ask Stripe to close your payment account at the same time, and we tell you honestly whether it agreed. Stripe keeps its own record of payments and identity checks for as long as the law requires. To ask Stripe directly, use their privacy team at stripe.com/privacy. The privacy policy has the full detail.

Getting in touch

Did you pay a tip and need help? A customer who paid can email the same address and quote the reference on their card statement or Stripe receipt. It starts with pi_. We will sort it out.
